Telling the time with a bit of culture

Just planning a lesson for Year 7 where we’re relating time to the context of school and timetables. The PowerPoint below makes reference to a school in Burgos + the timings of their school day. It is worth pointing out that there is no lunch time. The presentation then goes into the normal things for presenting the time but towards the end there are some practice activities in which the students have to write the time on the face of the clock of the Casa de Correos in the Puerta del Sol in Madrid. Clearly this is of some cultural importance in Spain especially on New Year’s Eve. The video illustrates this plus you can also point out the tradition of the twelve grapes.
