Whenever you’re teaching students to say their name it is worth focusing on the difference between “nombre” + “apellido” in order to point out a couple of interesting cultural facts. Firstly there is the issue of the two surnames in Spain (first being the father’s + the second the mother’s) plus it is interesting to see which are the most popular surnames in Spain. Perhaps the most interesting one is “Mohamed”. This is in Ceuta and Melilla, which will require a bit of explanation!
