Culture in a sandwich

We know that a sandwich in the UK (two pieces of sliced bread) looks very different to one in Spain (a baguette). Also what goes in the sandwich varies between countries and in Spain some sandwich fillings just don’t figure in Britain e.g. tortilla de patata. In the attached PowerPoint students are first challenged to list as many sandwich ingredients as they can think of with the use of a dictionary and then this is compared with a menu from Pans & Company, the Spanish sandwich company. Attention is also drawn to the four languages appearing on the menu – castellano, catalán , euskera + gallego. The context of this presentation for me is at the very start of the healthy living topic.
